Less than a week before classes are scheduled to begin, Cedarville University has updated its online course catalog to include several new faces in the Bible department: Jeremy Kimble, Michael Chiavone, Zachary Bowden, Darren Hildreth, and Robert Craig Smith. As of August 20, none of the new Bible faculty are listed on the Cedarville Bible department faculty and staff webpage.
Jeremy Kimble is a 2013 Ph.D. graduate of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. His Facebook page indicates that he is now an Assistant Professor of Theology at Cedarville University, in addition to roles as an online instructor at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and Liberty University. Kimble is scheduled to teach a section of Spiritual Formation, three sections of Christian Worldview Development, and a section of Christian Worldview Integration.
Michael Chiavone appears to hold a Ph.D. from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, according to a faculty page at Tennessee Temple University, a Christian university located in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Chiavone is slated to teach three sections of Spiritual Formation as well as the philosophy class Logic.
Zachary Bowden is also listed on the Cedarville website as Executive Assistant to the President, as The Ventriloquistrecently reported. Though a curriculum vitae for Bowden could not be located, a 2012 paper (PDF) lists Bowden as a Ph.D. student studying Church History at Southwest Baptist Theological Seminary (page xxiv). Bowden is listed in the course catalog as the professor for Church History, so he may be fulfilling that role in addition to his duties as Executive Assistant to the President.
Darren Hildreth was a Ph.D. student in Systematic Theology at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary as of 2012. He planned to complete his doctorate in May 2012, but an updated curriculum vitae or profile could not be located. Hildreth is scheduled to teach one section of Introduction to Urban Ministry.
The Ventriloquist was unable to locate further information on Robert Craig Smith. Smith is also scheduled to teach a section of Introduction to Urban Ministry.
