On August 9, in annual Faculty and Staff Sessions, three new faces in the Bible department and a new Executive Assistant to the President were announced.
Listed in the event program, the new Bible faculty are J.R. Gilhooly, Ched Spellman, and Billy Marsh. As of 2013, Gilhooly was a Ph.D. student at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary; it is unclear at this time whether he has earned his doctorate or is still pursuing it. Spellman graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2012 with a degree in Biblical Theology. Marsh is a former adjunct professor at The College at Southwestern (the undergraduate wing of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary) and began a Ph.D. in Systematic Theology from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2008, according to information published on his blog. According to the online course catalog, it appears that Spellman will teach sessions of Old Testament and a class on the Pentateuch; Gilhooly and Marsh's course assignments have not yet been posted.
Additionally, Zachary Bowden, a former staffer at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, was announced as the new Executive Assistant to the President, a new position created under the White administration. The Ventriloquist's sources indicate that Bowden will be paid a salary of approximately $50,000 per year and will also have the same travel budget as Dr. White. It is unclear at this time what Bowden's roles will be, as White also has an administrative assistant to schedule travel and handle standard administrative duties. In trying financial times that have forced Cedarville to shutter the philosophy major, terminate the China ERAP program, lay off 29 staff, and combine the Student Life and Christian Ministries divisions, the announcement engenders questions of whether such a new expense is necessary; former presidents Dr. Brown and Dr. Dixon had no similar assistant.
The Ventriloquist will update this article with further information as it becomes available. Anyone with information about the new hires is encouraged to contact The Ventriloquist at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Update August 12, 2:15PM: Corrected information about Billy Marsh. The article originally stated that Marsh earned his Ph.D. in Systematic Theology in 2008. He in fact began his Ph.D. study in that year, with no confirmed information at this time on when (or if) he completed it.
